Tasting notes: Elegant and juicy. Milk chocolate on fragrance. Taste of citrus and apples.

The Ticas family cultivates coffee with a big heart for nature and the local community. They support the medical clinic, the school and are involved in environmental projects.

Cerro Los Tamales comes from Los Planes coffee farm in northern El Salvador. Over 20 years ago, Sergio Ticas took over a small farm in the mountainous region of Chalatenango, and together with his wife Isabel, he began growing coffee in an area that was not at all associated with quality. That is why more than one coffee enthusiast raised an eyebrow when Finca Los Planes came in second place in the 2006 edition of the Cup of Excellence. Sergio and Isabel's efforts are a direct reason why coffee from the Chalatenango region is now a sought-after commodity on the specialty coffee market. It was here that the Ticas family themselves planted the varieties Pacamara, Bourbon and Yellow Caturra in the mid-1990s. At the family's own processing mill, the coffee is processed with fresh water from local sources, while a distribution of one coffee tree per shade tree ensures healthy and sustainable biodiversity. Among the coffee berries and shade trees on the farm, deer, ducks and a wide range of rare bird species roam. We have collaborated with The Ticas family for many years, and we love their heart for coffee, nature and the local community.
