Tasting notes: Sweet and juicy. Caramel, chocolate, ripe cherries.
The Río Atá is a vital river in Tolima, Colombia, flowing through the region surrounding Gaitania before joining the Magdalena River. It plays a crucial role in the lives of the communities of Gaitania and Planadas, serving as a primary source of water for households, agriculture, and coffee cultivation. As part of the region’s rich ecosystem, the Río Atá nourishes the fields where ACEDGA’s coffee-growing families cultivate their crops. For these communities, the river embodies both sustenance and livelihood — and stands as a powerful symbol of sustainability.
This coffee originates from five dedicated coffee farmers in Gaitania. Each farmer is a proud member of ACEDGA, a farm group of skilled producers united by a shared vision: to cultivate and deliver coffee of exceptional quality. ACEDGA was established in 2006 by a collective of 72 coffee farmers committed to excellence. Since its founding, the group has focused on enhancing coffee quality through sustainable agricultural practices and the active exchange of knowledge. This dedication has led several ACEDGA members to earn recognition in the prestigious Cup of Excellence Colombia competition.
