Tasting notes: Fruity and sweet. Citrus and berries on fragrance. Taste of blackcurrant and caramel.

This coffee is grown in lush Kiambu and processed at the Githongo washing station. With an exceptionally sweet mouthfeel and fresh, berry-like flavors, this is a coffee that will add an exclusive touch to the holiday season.

The Githongo washing station is located in the Kiambururu area of Kiambu, approximately 40 km north of Nairobi. Established in 1972, the washing station is owned by smallholder farmers. It is situated in a coffee-growing region characterized by volcanic soil and an altitude of around 1,900 meters above sea level, which results in cool temperatures and a slow ripening process for the coffee cherries. Approximately 1,200 farmers in the area supply coffee to the washing station, where the cherries are pulped, fermented, washed, and sun-dried on raised drying beds.

The Githongo washing station is part of the Komothai Coffee Growers Cooperative Society, which was founded in 1959. The cooperative owns 13 washing stations and represents thousands of small-scale farmers in Kiambu. Each washing station is located by a river or stream that provides clean water for processing the coffee cherries.
