Tasting notes: Fruity and juicy. Blackcurrant, kiwi and rhubarb.

A micro-batch of the highest quality Kenyan coffee (AA), processed at the Kii washing station in Kirinyaga. The coffee is grown in the highlands near Mount Kenya and processed with great precision, resulting in a pure, high quality coffee.

Together with its nearly 4,000 coffee farmers, Kii Coffee Factory works to produce high-quality coffee under the optimal growing conditions in the Kirinyaga district of Kenya. The area mainly grows the SL34 and SL28 bean varieties, both of which are known for their high quality. The farmers who deliver their coffee to the washing station follow strict guidelines for planting, pruning and fertilizing their coffee plants.

To maintain efficient and consistent processing, Kii Coffee Factory has invested in modern equipment, including wet mills and a water recycling system, which reduces the strain on local water sources in the area.

Kenya AA is coffee of the highest quality, known for its clean, fruity taste. A taste that gives an extra sweet, almost tantalizing, mouthfeel and has distinct notes of blackcurrant. AA beans are grown at an altitude of over 1700 meters and are carefully sorted for size and appearance. To qualify for the AA grade, the beans must be 7.2 mm in diameter, neither larger nor smaller, and have no visible defects. This avoids the green coffee containing beans that gets over- or under-roasted, and achieves an even roasting of the coffee. Coffee beans that do not meet the requirements for AA are sorted as, for example, AB, which is the second highest quality of Kenyan coffee.
