Luis Balladarez grows coffee in Nueva Segovia with a unique dedication to quality. Harvesting and processing are done according to strict quality standards, and the result is a pure and complex coffee.
Finca La Bendición is located in the Jalapa district of Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua, about 92 kilometers from the city of Ocotal. The farm is located between 1000 and 1380 meters above sea level and covers 155 hectares, of which about 76 hectares are planted with coffee. The rest consists of pine and deciduous forests. The cool, humid climate with fog clouds, sufficient annual rainfall and temperatures between 18 and 26 degrees provide good conditions for coffee production. The soil consists of silty and clayey soil with a lot of organic matter, and the rich flora and fauna around the farm contribute to a natural and diverse ecosystem. Here, the coffee is grown with great care and respect for both tradition and nature.
As a fourth generation coffee farmer, Luis Alberto Balladarez grew up with coffee growing as a natural part of life, and today he continues the family tradition on his own farms in Nueva Segovia. Luis is one of Solberg & Hansen’s newest partners, which we discovered through the Cup of Excellence Nicaragua in 2025.
Luis combines knowledge as an agronomist with experience from generations of coffee farmers, and through Beneficio Las Segovias he has also become an important driver of coffee quality in the region. For Luis, coffee growing is about taking care of the land, the people and the knowledge that makes each coffee unique. This year we have purchased four different batches of coffee from his coffee farms, which we are excited to share with you.
