Tasting notes: Juicy and complex. Gooseberry, hops and citrus.
From El Guabo, a small coffee farm far north in the Andes, comes this unique batch of Maragogipe – the iconic “elephant bean”. Fernando Ramirez cultivates coffee with great personality, and unique flavors in the cup.
Maragogipe is often called elephant beans, because the beans are extremely large. In addition, the coffee tree itself and the leaves are very large. The variety originally comes from Brazil and is a mutation of the original Ethiopian Typica variety. The variety has spread throughout Latin America in recent centuries. The taste can vary from very full and aromatic, to acidic and floral.
