Thageini Natural - Nyeri, Kenya

The Thageini washing station is located in the well-known coffee region of Nyeri, just southwest of Mount Kenya. Ripe coffee cherries are delivered here from over 360 coffee farmers in the surrounding areas. The rich, volcanic soil results in dense coffee beans with complex, fruity flavor profiles.

Natural coffees has long been a rarity in Kenya, and almost 90 % of all Kenyan coffees are still traditionally washed. But with years of experimentation with various processing methods, a few washing stations have succeeded with great results. When the cherries are dried whole, Kenyan coffee takes on a completely unique and intense sweetness and fruitiness.
