Luis Balladarez grows coffee with care for both nature and people in beautiful Nueva Segovia. The result is a coffee of very high quality that is recognized with good placements in CoE Nicaragua year after year.

Un Regalo de Dios is located high in the mountains of Nueva Segovia, surrounded by forest, birdlife and fresh water. Here, between 1350 and 1700 meters above sea level, the coffee trees are allowed to grow slowly in the cool and humid climate. The farm is a total of 143 hectares, but only about half is dedicated to coffee, the rest is allowed to be forest. Here, consideration for nature stands side by side with coffee cultivation, which is also reflected in the name: Un Regalo de Dios, "God's Gift".

As a fourth generation coffee farmer, Luis Alberto Balladarez grew up with coffee growing as a natural part of life, and today he continues the family tradition on his own farms in Nueva Segovia. Luis is one of Solberg & Hansen’s newest partners, which we discovered through the Cup of Excellence Nicaragua in 2025.

Luis combines knowledge as an agronomist with experience from generations of coffee farmers, and through Beneficio Las Segovias he has also become an important driver of coffee quality in the region. For Luis, coffee growing is about taking care of the land, the people and the knowledge that makes each coffee unique. This year we have purchased four different batches of coffee from his coffee farms, which we are excited to share with you.
